Effective change management is a fundamental part of any service management operation. The pressure is on IT to deliver a change management service that provides an advanced level of tracking, automation and impact analysis for all changes. And at a cost effective rate.

Sunrise's Sostenuto comes with an advanced change management service as standard. The service, which has been configured from the ground-up to follow ITIL defined processes, enables you to automate and track IT changes in a linear and logical manner, but because it is not hard-coded there is enough flexibility to tailor the service to meet specific organisational needs.

Not all solutions are so advanced though and to ensure you are getting the right product there are a number of questions that should be asked:

  • Does the change management service fully integrate with all other ITIL functions, such as problem, configuration and incident management to ensure you are working towards best practice guidelines at all times?
  • Does change management come as standard with the service management solution, rather than as a costly seperate module?
  • Can changes be automated to avoid the need for time-consuming manual changes?
  • Can the service support a broad range of required functions? For instance, from simple user changes right through to complex administrator changes?
  • Can Requests For Change (RFC's) can be raised remotely via Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) as if the user were in the office?
