Active Directory Synchronisation

The storage and accuracy of data is becoming increasingly important to organisations, and key to the accuracy of the data is to find one system that can be recognised as the feeder for other systems. Active Directory is often seen as this central system, with more and more organisations using this technology to get to grips with their contact information.

Background

Sunrise offer an Active Directory Synchronisation service, a service that applies not only to Active Directory but also to Payroll, HR, Exchange and other contact databases. By synchronising Sunrise Enterprise with the data held in Active Directory or Payroll, Exchange HR etc, users of Sunrise can benefit from having one centralised data source and can reduce the administration overhead of maintaining two sets of data.

A number of fields can be synchronised from the contact database to Enterprise allowing the organisation to ensure information such as Contact Names, Email Addresses, Telephone numbers and department details are all kept up-to-date. For example if a member of staff moves from one department to another and this change is recorded in Active Directory or HR, it will be replicated in Enterprise, meaning that there is no need to make this change within Enterprise manually.

A daily, weekly or monthly routine can be created that will synchronise the data on the chosen schedule and remove the need to manually add details into Enterprise.

The project consists of the steps detailed below. The output will be a fully documented Data Transfer Service (DTS) package, with documentation of how the DTS package runs and is scheduled.
